20 of these cards I’m showing you today have been shipped off to Operation Write Home (OWH)
“This merry band of thousands of cardmakers is made up of Americans – and citizens of other nations too – who care about our military, and want to support them through creativity and encouragement. Many thousands of crafters of all ages and levels of experience have participated since 2007! Care packages filled with hundreds of handmade cards are sent to our contacts, restocking every 6-8 weeks, and are sent in time for the long journey back home to loved ones. Each box is packed with great care, alternating styles, colors, and cardmakers from all over the USA, creating “eye candy” for heroes who see only khaki around them. The topper on each box is a plastic bag filled with 20-30 letters from adults and children across the country, letters handed out especially to those in need of a positive word from the homefront. Boxes are shipped through every week of the year, so join us anytime in sending your beautiful creations to help our heroes keep in touch with home!” You can find TONS of more info on the OWH site; their Getting Started page is here. ———————————————————————————————–
Since OWH cards have very important guidelines that you MUST follow (you can find them, and their reasons for them, here), my card today is the standard A2 size today, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. The Snowman is colored with Copic markers
The snowman image is mounted on Pop Dots (a little dimension is OK with OWH, and in fact encouraged; just don’t go crazy with buttons and big 3D embellishments for packing & mailing reasons)
So, here are some from my first batch of OWH cards; if you’d like to start helping to bring some smiles to our military serving overseas, check out OWH and get some cards started; Valentine’s Day cards are what you’ll be shipping in the next month (yes, the lead times are very long, for them to receive them from us in the U.S, and then for them to ship back to their loved ones in the U.S).
Have a great week, and Happy Scrapping!
