Translation: Happy Easter!

Hi MarkerPop Peeps! With Easter quickly approaching, I’m mixing old and new (well, “newER” anyway) Lawn Fawn products today for a sweet and fun Easter card!

The adorable chicks and all their sweet accessories com from Lawn Fawn’s Chirpy Chirp Chirp set that was released in February of 2016 (seems like just yesterday!). I stamped them with Lawn Fawndamentals Black Licorice ink onto X-Press Ink paper, and colored them with my Copic Sketch markers.

All the adorable die cut pieces are all Lawn Fawn Cut Sets.  Here are the sets I used and for which pieces:

All of the solid colors are actually white paper colored with Lawn Fawndamentals inks and a couple Distress inks; you can see all the specific ones I used in the Supply List below.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a GREAT day!

Today I am going to share how I clean my Copic markers. I don’t know about you, but my beautiful babies get messy very easily. So every once in awhile I clean them and spiffy them up (as my Gramps used to always say). Here are a few in all their messy glory:

There are 4 ways you can clean your markers: isopropyl alcohol, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, or Copic 0 Colorless Blender refill ink. Then you’ll need cotton balls and/or Q-tips:

Look at this poor R24 marker in the next 2 pics; see how not only is the outside barrel all messy, but when you take the caps off, you see the tips of the barrel are nasty, and the inside of the cap on the side I use the most is an absolute disaster!:

Now I’ve heard that baby wipes will clean your Copic markers. I tried it, and it was OK, but I think this method is really only good enough if you’re looking for a slight clean-up. I wiped and rubbed that marker with the wipe, and you can see how much ink is still left:

The next method I’ve only heard about, and I didn’t expect it to work; it’s using hand sanitizer. I had some in my purse, so I grabbed it, soaked a cotton ball with it, and wa-la, it took the ink RiGHT OFF, easy as pie!:

Now the R24 was so clean, I had to grab another marker, my E29; look at the mess on that one.

This time I used my most trusted method that I love, and that’s isopropyl alcohol. Get a cotton ball soaked with it, and you’ll see the ink come off your marker beautifully!:

Now the hard part… the INSIDES of the caps (blech!):

First I soaked a Q-tip in hand sanitizer, and got to work on the insides. It worked, but I could see I’d go through 10 or more Q-tips on each cap:

So instead, I poured my isopropyl alcohol (i.a.) into the caps, then rubbed the insides of the caps (while still filled with i.a.) with Q-tips. I poured out the then colored i.o and rinsed with water. Look how beautiful they got!:

Here is that original set of markers from the beginning of the post, and clean and shiny again:

I’m going to move on to another issue we all have once-in-awhile… a dried out nib. What you’ll need is a new nib, Nib Tweezers if you have them (I don’t), Copic Boosters, and your Refill Ink.

First, pull out the old nib, and put your new nib in; here’s my new nib in my marker barrel. In the background, you can see I’ve pulled the Booster needle out of it’s plastic cap; it’s like a long needle with a base on it:

Go to your wide end of your marker, take it out, and then put the booster needle into the inside of the marker:

Then start dripping the ink in; you’ll know when it’s full the nib on the other end gets all juicy & wet. Then put the nibs back in:

So there she is! A clean, filled, great working Copic marker!:

Thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to go to the Markerpop blog to see the other designers’ Copic posts!

Purr-fect Friend

I love MFT’s new stamp & die set, Purr-fect Friends! It’s such a sweet set, and really fun to color! I used this set for today’s card.

The images are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto X-Press IT paper, and colored with Copics. The background scalloped oval is die cut using MFT’s Stitched Oval Scalloped die set, and the paper is from their Hearts & Stripes 6×6 paper pad.

My final touch was adding a few Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Cupped Fresh Mint sequins around the sentiment. Thank you for stopping by today; have a great day, and happy crafting!

Happy Birthday – Open Me!

What fun interactive cards are! And I have that on my card today, featuring Lawn Fawn’s 3 Sprinkled with Joy products (1 stamp set, and 2 different die sets)! I created a birthday card, and pulled in Lawn Fawn’s Baked with Love stamp set & coordinating die set to do that.

The images are stamped with Lawn Fawn’s Black Licorice ink onto X-Press It paper, and colored with Copic markers. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment inside the oven from Lawn Fawn’s Year Two stamp set and their Yeti ink. The background papers (yes, Lawn Fawn’s!) (links here & here) are die cut with dies from Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Square Stackables dies – Large and Small.

I went a little crazy with the sequins, but I couldn’t help it! I LOVE my Pretty Pink Posh sequins, and this was the perfect card to add a ton of them! You can see which ones I used in the Supply List below.

Thank you for stopping by; have a wonderful day, and happy crafting!

Altenew’s Starter Stamping Kit

I have ALWAYS thought the Altenew multi-layer stamp sets were gorgeous, and that their images they create are stunning; however, I was a chicken. Yes, a chicken. Don’t ask me why, but the thought of trying them always intimidated me! Until, that is, when I was hopping around Markerpop’s store web site and landed on the Altenew section; I was admiring all their yummy products, and and stumbled on “kits”! Yes, kits! I am a sucker for kits, and THESE kits were instructional on how to not only use their products, but included instructions on how to create different images. My prayers were answered!

First I practiced and practiced on pieces of scrap paper. When I got the hang of the stamping and how to line up the images (or NOT line them up, because with these images it really doesn’t matter if they’re perfectly lined up – that’s the beauty of it!), I copied a card from their fabulous instruction booklet. Here’s one they show you how to create:

I added a touch of bling onto it with Pretty Pink Posh’s 4mm Pink Blush Cupped sequins and 4mm Clear Droplets.

Then, I went off on my own. For the yellow on the butterfly, I used Lawn Fawn’s Sunflower and Butter inks. To create this card, after doing all the stamping, I wanted a frame, so I used 2 Lawn Fawn die sets: Scalloped Rectangle Stackables and Stitched Rectangle Frames. The sequins are Pretty Pink Posh’s 4mm Lemon Meringue Cupped sequins.

I highly suggest this kit to anyone who has not ventured down the Altenew multi-layer stamping process before! I’m looking forward to creating many more beautiful scenes! Have a wonderful day, and Happy Crafting!

When You’re 30 {Something}

I have a great guy card today, featuring Sweet Stamp Shop‘s Festival 30 stamp set!

I started by stamping the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Copic friendly paper, X-Press It blending cardstock. Then, I colored the images using my Copic Sketch markers. I carefully hand cut the images out, and then colored around all the cut edges with my Memento Tuxedo Black marker to give it a finished look.

Sweet Stamp Shop stamps, MFT paper & dies, Lawn Fawn dies, Doodlebug Jewels, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} All the papers are from My Favorite Thing’s 6×6 Proper Pinstripes paper pad. The yellow lined paper is die cut using a die from Lawn Fawn’s Large Square Stitched Stackables die set. The green lined paper is die cut using a die from Lawn Fawn’s Small Square Stitched Stackables die set. The goofy “square” openings are die cut using the 2 dies is My Favorite Thing’s Peek-a-Book Wonky Windows die set.

Sweet Stamp Shop stamps, MFT paper & dies, Lawn Fawn dies, Doodlebug Jewels, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} After the wonky square opening was cut into the green piece, then I got out my Mini Misti, lined up the sentiments onto the green piece, and stamped them with VersaFine Onyx Black ink. The 2 final touches were adding Zig Clear Wink of Stella on the glass and pretzel, and a few Tangerine Jewels by Doodlebug.

This is a cool stamp set, and I hope you have a reason to use it!

Sow Much

How about some MFT adorable-ness today?! OK, who doesn’t LOVE adorable little pink pigs?! Well, My Favorite Things did real good with this one, released  just this month! It’s called Hog Heaven 🙂

They also introduced some cool new dies, called the Flop Card diesI’m featuring the Rectangle one on my card today. Here’s an MFT video showing/explaining what they are and how they work:

I kept my card pretty basic today, but it’s still so fun and so cute, I don’t think it matters! All of the images are stamped using my Mini Misti, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press IT Blending Card paper, and colored with my Copics.

MFT stamps & dies, Doodlebug paper, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} MFT stamps & dies, Doodlebug paper, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} MFT stamps & dies, Doodlebug paper, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} MFT stamps & dies, Doodlebug paper, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} MFT stamps & dies, Doodlebug paper, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} The paper is Doodlebug’s Spring Garden collection. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and a Round Ink Applicator to apply the ink onto my Bazzill White cardstock.

The brick wall is created using the MFT English Brick Wall stencil, and Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Pumice Stone & Hickory Smoke) & my Mini Ink Blending Tool. MFT stamps & dies & stencil, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} The card base is and the “brick wall layer” are both Bazzill Classic Smooth White paper. I painted the 2 birds, the butterfly, and the orange cat’s collar with Zig Clear Wink of Stella. And I added Glossy Accents to the grey cat’s pearl collar.

Butterfly Kisses

Good Monday morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! I know I did – my first baby graduated high school! So hard to believe!

OK, on to my card for the week – I made a sweet Birthday Card using a newer Mama Elephant set – the Butterfly Kisses stamp set & die set! I stamped it with a waterproof ink onto Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor cardstock so I could color it with my…. (ta-da!) NEW PRIMA WATERCOLR PENCILS! Yes, I decided to try something new!

Mama Elephant stamps & dies, Prima watercolor pencils, Ken Oliver paper, Pretty Pink Posh droplets {ValByDesign, 2016} I practed alot before I did this project; and even this is not very good if you ask me! I watched a bunch of videos; this is the first one I watched, from the Prima web site:

I am very excited to introduce a LOT Ken Oliver products to the store! In fact, I’m using his Color Burst Spash paper on this project!

Mama Elephant stamps & dies, Prima watercolor pencils, Ken Oliver paper, Pretty Pink Posh droplets {ValByDesign, 2016} And my final touches were the Zig Clear Wink of Stella painted in the large butterfly and the script word “you”, and my Pretty Pink Posh Clear Droplets.

Organic Blooms

I enjoyed coloring this set so much, that I couldn’t stop at one card, so I made two! It’s the Mama Elephant Organic Blooms stamp set.

Mama Elephant stamps & dies, Lawn Fawn dies, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} The first card features yellow roses, and it’s a “Thinking of You” type of card. And the second one, featuring pink roses, can be for any happy occasion, because it says “Happy Everything”!

Mama Elephant stamps & dies, Lawn Fawn dies, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto X-Press It Blending Card paper (using my Mini Misti), and colored it with Copic Sketch markers (colors listed at the end).

Mama Elephant stamps & dies, Lawn Fawn dies, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} I die cut the X-Press IT paper with the scalloped rectangle die from Mama Elephant’s Creative Cute Basic Die Set. Then I took the largest die from Lawn Fawn’s Small Stitched Rectangle die set and placed it on top of the scalloped die cut piece, and ran it through my Sizzix with all the plates set to make only any embossing of the die on the paper.

Mama Elephant stamps & dies, Lawn Fawn dies, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} The card bases (the black piece and the light blue piece) are die cut using the largest die from Lawn Fawn’s Large Stitched Rectangle die set. The cute little banners are die cut using the small die from Lawn Fawn’s Extra Sentiment Banners die set.

Mama Elephant stamps & dies, Lawn Fawn dies, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} All the sequins are Pretty Pink Posh: 4mm & 6mm Cupped Onyx, 4mm Cupped Marshmallow, 4mm & 6mm Clear Droplets. I painted all the tiny leaves with my Zig Clear Wink of Stella

Hi Crafters! I’m using Paper Smooches today, and I created a fun birthday card! The products I’m featuring are newer and older, and we don’t carry some of them anymore, but I’ll still list all them here:

Paper Smooches stamps & dies, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Lawn Fawn inks, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} I stamped all the images using my Mini Misti stamp tool (love that baby!) And the background of the shaker portion has the images stamped using 3 Lawn Fawn inks: Lobster, Manatee, and Black Licorice. I filled the shaker with Pretty Pink Posh cupped sequins (all the colors are listed in the Supply list at the end of the post).

8 Gumball Machine Cards

OK, I could not decide what color to make this ADORABLE gumball machine, so I made one in every color! I’m using the new, totally fun,  MFT Gumball Machine die set and their coordinating Gumball Greetings stamp set today!

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh die & sequins, Lawn Fawn ink {ValByDesign, 2016} I pulled out a bunch of Bazzill cardstock colors (listed below, except for the turquoise and purple ones 🙁 ), and started die cutting the pieces to assemble the gumball machines. The patterned papers are from MFT’s 6×6 Neutral Dots & Stripes paper pad and MFT’s 6×6 Rainbow Stripes paper pad. The arc is die cut using the arc die from Pretty Pink Posh’s (PPP) Stitched Borders I die set.

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh die & sequins, Lawn Fawn ink {ValByDesign, 2016} The “gumballs” in the machines are SO TOTALLY FUN to work with! They are MFT’s Dimenional Circle Confetti. I used a ton of PPP sequins; all the ones I used are listed in the Supply List below.

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh die & sequins, Lawn Fawn ink {ValByDesign, 2016} All the stamping for the sentiments (colors listed below) was done using my OH-SO-AWESOME Mini Misti (I NEVER would have been able to do such a straight, in-line, and multi-colored job with just regular stamping blocks!). And in between different inks, I washed the stamps off with my Lawn Fawn Stamp Shammy (LOVE this thing! no more baby wipes!).

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh die & sequins, Lawn Fawn ink {ValByDesign, 2016} I used 3 different adhesives for separate applications: Tombow Mono Glue, X-Press IT Fine Point Glue Pen, and my Crafter’s Companion Tape Runner. My Ken Oliver Best Ever Craft Mat was so easy to clean up in between glue messes, my Multicraft Precion Tweezers & QuickStik Craft Tool were both a life saver while working with the sequins, and my Cheery Lynn Tweezers quickly & easily snipped my new die set apart.

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh die & sequins, Lawn Fawn ink {ValByDesign, 2016} This project really didn’t take me very long. If you treat it like an assembly line, it goes pretty quickly! Hope you liked, and have a wonderful day and week. Happy Crafting!

Happy Purr-thday!

Today I’m digging into some new AND old MFT goodies for the MarkerPOP! blog!

The new Cool Cat stamp set & coordinating die set were a MUST HAVE for me, as I love anything “cats & dogs”. And it works perfectly with the older set, I Knead You. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press IT Blending Card Paper, and colored them with my Copic Sketch markers (colors listed at the end). The sentiment is stamped using VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} I pulled out the MFT March Release paper collection, Tranquil Textures, and used 2 sheets from it. The purple patterned one is die cut using the 2nd largest die from the MFT Croos-Stitch Rectangle STAX die set.

The perfect final touch was adding Pretty Pink Posh sequins with Glossy Accents:

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} I also used some AWESOME new tools (check out our new Crafter’s Essentials section in the store for the latest products we’re carrying that every crafter must have!!)

The card base is a sheet of Bazzill White Cardstock. The white foam on the back of the die cut images is glued on using Tombow Mono Glue. I used my Crafter’s Companion Adhesive to tape down the wood patterned paper to the card base. And I store my Copic Markers in Crafter’s Companion storage shelves

MFT stamps & dies & paper, Pretty Pink Posh sequins, Copics {ValByDesign, 2016} The Copic colors I used are:
